Description of Caphosol

Caphosol is an advanced oral electrolyte solution, resulted in both favorable impact on rates and severity of oral mucositis (OM) in cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy and radiation therapy. IIt is also indicated for dryness of the mouth or throat (hyposalivation, xerostomia), regardless of the cause or whether the conditions are temporary or permanent.
It is an artificial saliva that moistens and cleans the mouth. This allows you to be more comfortable when drinking, chewing and speaking. It also provides relief from mouth sores, also called mucositis, caused by radiation treatment or cancer chemotherapy.

Indication

  • as an adjunct to standard oral care in treating OM caused by radiation or high dose chemotherapy. 
  • for dryness of the mouth or throat (hyposalivation, xerostomia), regardless of the cause or whether the conditions are temporary or permanent. 

Use of Caphosol

Mix 1 blue (Caphosol A) and 1 clear ampule (Caphosol B). Swish the mouth thoroughly for 1 minute with half of the solution and spit out. Repeat with remaining half and spit out. Use immediately after mixing ampules.
Repeat 4–10 times/day or as needed. 

If you are using this medication during radiation treatment or cancer chemotherapy for mucositis, follow your doctor's instructions carefully.

Avoid eating or drinking for at least 15 minutes after using this product. Read the product instructions for more specific information.

Ingredients Caphosol

Dibasic sodium phosphate 0.032, monobasic sodium phosphate 0.009, calcium chloride 0.052, sodium chloride 0.569, purified water; supersaturated calcium phosphate rinse; contains sodium 71mg/30mL dose.

Warning

No adverse effects expected if swallowed.
Avoid eating or drinking for 15 minutes after use.
Not recommended for children en people following a sodium-restricted diet.

Saliva substitutes can be used with no side effects. If you have any unusual side effects, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
 
A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, get medical help right away if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing.

    Great service from a very caring company. Product very helpful with mucositis from any cause...dry mouth, chemotherapy, radiation treatment. I wouldn't hesitate to use Farmaline again.

    Bought this extremely expensive mouthwash to use during chemotherapy. Has not helped my sore mouth at all. I will keep using it in the hope that the effect is cumulative but, so far, I'm so disappoinred

    Caphosol has neutral taste and therefore you can easier persuade a kid to take it. The results are better if you start it in parallel with a chemo-therapy and before the problem appears.
